Gradings Update for Season 2021

Due to the abandonment of matches in 2020, and the Club’s focus on player retention, all boys are offered to get their same spot back in 2021*. There will be no formal gradings sessions.

The intention is to resume from where left off.

**EOI Deadline: 1st February 2021 Any spots vacant in boys’ teams after that date will be offered to returning players from lower-level teams or new players seeking to join the club.

To claim your spot back

As usual, all players (both new and returning) must submit an Expression of Interest form in order to be allocated a spot in a Glen Eira FC team in 2021.

APPLY TODAY: Team training times and other important joining information are sent to players who have submitted an EOI form. There is no cost to submit an EOI and applications can be withdrawn at any time.

2021 Important Dates

  • Graded boys’ teams will resume training from late January 2021 onwards.
  • Offer to get your same spot back expires 1st February 2021
  • Ungraded boys’ teams can resume training from mid-February 2021 onwards.
  • Round 1 is scheduled for 17/18 April 2021

Boys’ Age Groups and Levels

Glen Eira FC offers football participation opportunities boys of all ages and skill levels.

For youths born 2001 – 2003 inclusive.

Glen Eira FC’s youth teams offers young men turning 17 – 20 years old the opportunity to play with, and against, players of a similar skill level. The Coaches of Glen Eira FC’s youth teams are volunteers who are for the most part, experienced and qualified. No additional coaching fees are payable.

U20 Boys’ team

For boys born 2004 or 2005

U16 & U17 Boys’ NPL

Glen Eira’s Boys’ High Performance Squads are run by professional academy coaches who train them 3 times per week. The squads provide an environment to maximise player development, ensuring refined techniques, creativity and game insights are transferred into matches (via competitive environment). The players are guided through the relevant age-specific elements of playing a dynamic possession based style of football.

  • Suitable for highly-skilled boys born 2004 or 2005.
  • Junior Boys’ NPL competition comprises 33 matches played from Feb till Oct
  • Professional Coaches
  • 3 Training sessions per week
  • Additional Coaching fees are payable
  • Venue for Home matches is Lord Reserve, Carnegie
  • Venue for Training sessions during terms 2 & 3 is Mackie Road Reserve, East Bentleigh

Trials Update

Trials for spots in Glen Eira’s U16 and U17 Boy’s NPL squads for 2021 took place on Saturday 28th November 2020. To express interest in attending, please email info@GlenEiraFC.com.au by 3pm Friday 27th November. Please include player’s name, year of birth and short summary of his most recent playing history.

U16 & U17 Boys’ Graded Teams

Graded teams offer boys the opportunity to play with, and against, players of a similar skill level. Graded teams offer good skills development whilst maximising player satisfaction

  • Suitable for aspiring boys who are dedicated and focused on the game and their own development.
  • Graded teams play in Community A/B-grade leagues.
  • Matches are played on Sundays from early April till early Sept
  • Volunteer Coaches
  • 2 Training sessions per week

Friendship-based teams for boys who are in it for the enjoyment of the game and the improved social outcomes/life skills that come from participating in organised team sport.

  • Ungraded U16 boys’ team plays in U16C league.
  • Matches are played on Sundays from early April till early Sept
  • Volunteer Coach
  • 1 Training session per week

For boys born 2006 or 2007

Trials Update(players born 2011 – 2013 inclusive)

Trials for spots in Glen Eira’s U8, U9 and U10 Boy’s Development Squads for 2021 will take place in December 2020.

7yo Boys’ Team

For players born 2014

  • For players who have already done 2 years in the Introductory program.
  • Ungraded team playing in Community U8 Boys’ Joeys-level league
  • Matches are on Saturday mornings from early April till early Sept.
  • Volunteer Coach
  • 1 Training session per week, usually around 5pm. Exact night TBC.
  • Venue for Training sessions and Home matches is Lord Reserve, Carnegie.

5-7yo Introductory Program

For players born 2014 – 2016 inclusive.

  • Runs at 10am or 11am on Saturdays throughout Terms 2 and 3.
  • Venue is Lord Reserve, Carnegie.

How to Join

Start by submitting the Expression of Interest form. This means we will be able to let you know about any potential try-out sessions and how to do the proper sign up if you are successful in gaining a spot in a team.

Membership Fees

Glen Eira FC aims to provide a great club environment whilst minimising the cost of participation.

Match Information

Glen Eira FC’s boys’ teams compete in the FV South zone. Matches are played from April through late August/ early Sept (school terms 2 & 3).  

U8-U12 Boys play on Saturday mornings.
U13-U20 Boys play on Sundays.

From late March onwards, you can click here to view the Fixture Draw. The season consists of 18 rounds — 9 home matches and 9 away matches. Home matches are played at Lord Reserve in Carnegie or Mackie Road Reserve in East Bentleigh.

Away matches are mostly played against clubs in Melbourne’s South or East. Some leagues are metropolitan-wide. Travel times are usually 20 to 40 minutes, but you might get a  one or two per season that are an hour or more away.
