2025 Castlefield Cup

End-of-Season tournament for U8-U11 Boys and Girls teams.

  • The tournament is invitational only. 
    Academy teams aren't invited so the level a good community standard.
  • There is a winner for each age group as well as an overall club winner on the day.

Timings
  • All games will consist of 15 minute halves with a five minute half time break.
  • Each team plays a series of 3 round robin matches between about 9am and 2pm.   
  • Qualifiers play finals from about 2pm till 5pm.
  • The presentation ceremony can go up till 6pm.




  • Tournament organiser will not allow over-age players to play in a team, a player MUST be of the correct age for their age group or younger. 
  • Games will be officiated by Sandringham's Budding Refs.
  • Canteen and BBQ tents will provide an assortment of food throughout the day.

  • Glen Eira FC will bring club marquee for shelter and a meeting point.
  • The event will run, rain or shine!

Finals Eligibility

RULES OF ADVANCEMENT TO SEMI-FINALS (8 team divisions)
Two teams from each of the 2 groups of four will advance to the semi-finals. Advancement
will be determined by:
1. Highest points after three round robin games
2. Highest goals difference
3. Highest goals for
4. Head-to-head results
5. If no clear result, then toss of coin to determine winner

RULES OF ADVANCEMENT TO SEMI-FINALS (6 team divisions)
The top four teams of the single group of 6 will advance to the semi-finals. Seeding will be
determined by:
1. Highest points after three round robin games
2. Highest goals difference
3. Highest goals for
4. Head-to-head results
5. If no clear result, then toss of coin to determine winner

FINALS RULES:
A drawn match in a finals play-off (semi-finals or finals) will be determined by:
1. Golden goal over two 7 minute halves of extra time
2. Most goals scored in all games (including finals series)
3. Highest goal difference in all games (including finals series)
4. Head-to-head results
5. If no clear result, then toss of coin to determine winner

Car Parking

With close to 800 players plus families in attendance, there will be a lot of traffic in the streets. We ask that everyone please obey the local parking signs and to not park across any local residents driveways. There will be traffic officers patrolling the area. The Spring St carpark will be closed off and reserved for staff and ambulant parking but there is ample parking in the streets around the grounds. You may need to park a few blocks away and walk to the ground. There are car parks in the bowls club off Tulip St.

Presentations


  • All finalists will receive a gold, silver or bronze medal.

  • Castlefield Shields: The Castlefield Perpetual Shields are awarded each year to the teams that win their age group finals. The shields are retained by Sandringham and Age Group Champion Trophy will be presented to the winning teams for them to take away.

  • Castlefield Cup: The Castlefield Perpetual Cup will be awarded to the club that acquires the most points over all age groups participating in the tournament. The Cup is retained by Sandringham and Champion and Runners Up Cups will be presented to the winning teams for them to take away.
