Glen Eira FC's Extreme Weather policy is based FV's Extreme Weather Policy and the Weather Conditions regulations in FV's Rules of Competition in conjunction with Sports Medicine Australia's Extreme Heat Policy.
This policy applies to all outdoor activities such as training and gradings/trials sessions as well as fixtures and friendly matches.
- Lightning: If the time between lightning flash and the thunder sound is less than 30 SECONDS then outdoor activity should be suspended, and not resumed until 30 MINUTES after the last thunder. Read more… Lightning Policy.
- Hail: All outdoor activity should be suspended during hail storms so that players and officials can seek suitable shelter.
- Cold: Minus 2 degrees Celsius (Apparent Temperature) is the point where play should be suspended for wind chill factor.
- Heat:
For Matches: If 30 minutes before kick off the temperature at the venue is 32º or above, water bottles must be made available to enable any player to take a drink during the course of the Competition Fixture. Permission of the Match Official to take a drink is not required.
For Trainings [only applies to teams up to and including U16] Training sessions should be cancelled if the temperature during the training session exceeds 36ºC.
